Leading for Results is Oklahoma City’s performance management program.
When we say that’s “the way we do business,” it’s our way of saying performance management is not just about
checking off an item on a to-do list – it’s about managing our operations to make sure we are paying attention to
the quality, speed and efficiency of the services our citizens receive every day. In Oklahoma City we are committed
to looking strategically at all of our programs, the services they provide and the way they are provided.
Oklahoma City uses performance management to link each department’s operations to a strategic business plan.
Each department’s strategic business plan is updated every other year and is organized into programs with each
program having an approved budget and set of performance measures. The performance measures demonstrate the
benefit each City program is providing to
citizens and measure progress in achieving departmental goals using the resources allocated to the program.
Through our Leading for Results efforts we hope to provide better information to decision makers and citizens and
demonstrate accountability in providing citizens with good services in return for their tax dollars.

The annual citizen survey is a key tool we use to monitor and report our progress in achieving many of our performance
goals related to maintaining citizen satisfaction with City services.
